Be A Delegate to the 2008 DNC Convention

Posted by Kevin Bondelli on February 5, 2008

Already today, as millions of Americans in Super Tuesday states head to the polls to help choose the next President of the United States, we are getting reports from YDA members of a large youth turnout in communities across the country.  This is great news for our organization, our party, and most importantly – our country.

Tell us your Super Tuesday stories on our blog:

More than in any year in recent memory, the votes of Young Democrats like you are not only having a major impact on the outcome of primaries and caucuses  but on the larger political culture as well.  Pundits, the media, and especially the Democratic candidates have all caught on to the Young Voter Revolution we have seen over the last few months and, in fact, the last few election cycles.

As you know, choosing our presidential nominee is a little more complicated than your average election.  After the primary votes in your state are cast, the next phase of the nomination starts: the delegate selection phase.  It is crucial for Young Democrats like you to be a major part of this process as well.

Start down the path of becoming a delegate:

As I am sure you have seen discussed in the news in recent weeks due to the close nature of this year’s primary, the Democratic presidential nominee is actually determined by votes cast by delegates at the Democratic National Convention being held this summer in Denver, Colorado. Delegates not only determine our nominee but also vote on the Party rules and platform – and of course get to be a part of all the parties, celebrations, and big events surrounding the convention.

Today, on Super Tuesday, take the first step in becoming a delegate to the Democratic National Convention!  Just fill out our delegate candidate informational form and then YDA will connect you with local leaders, make sure you know when the delegate selection process takes place in your state,  and do what we can to help you win an appointment or an election to be a Delegate.

Start down the path of becoming a delegate:

Take your participation in this year’s nominating process to the next level – become a 2008 Convention Delegate!
